Center Avenue Detour InformationCenter Avenue in Bay City will be completely closed to traffic from April 3rd, 2009 for approx 1 year for reconstruction from the ground up. Following is my recommendation for access to Temple Israel during the construction: Coming from I-75/US10, head east on I-75 Business/M-25, across the Saginaw River to Washington Ave (M-84). (Traffic Light) - Dunlop Pontiac will be on your left. Turn RIGHT/South on Washington Ave/M-84 and travel south approx. 0.4 miles to the corner of Washington and Columbus (Traffic Light). Turn LEFT/East on Columbus and continue approx. 1.2 miles to the corner of Columbus and Trumbell (M-15) (Traffic Light). "Historic" Pine Ridge cemetery is on the Southeast corner of Colombus/Ridge Rd. and Trumbell (M-15). Continue straight for approx. 0.3 miles - Columbus ends/Ridge begins at that intersection. Turn left/North on Green Street. Limberg's Stone Cottage Florist is on the Northeast corner of Green and Ridge Road and Green Dead Ends at Ridge Road with Elm Lawn Cemetery across from Ridge. Continue north approx. 0.3 miles to Temple Israel on the corner of Center and Green. Enter parking lot from Green. Note that Green is a divided street with one way traffic on each side of the median. When leaving the temple, presumably traffic will have to be directed the "wrong way" on green street until you reach a crossover point, about 1/2 block south of the temple.
