"My House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer for all People"
Temple Beth Israel is a warm and vibrant congregation devoted to Jewish learning, worship and acts of loving-kindness. We are a liberal congregation guided by a reverence for tradition.
Temple Beth Israel welcomes individuals and families of all backgrounds who seek to explore the Jewish way of life, spiritual growth and learning.
Below are a few of the services Temple Beth Israel offers the Tri-Cities' Jewish community:
Shabbat Services
- Join us on Friday Nights and Saturday mornings for an informal and "heimish" service, with lots of singing and open discussion. Childcare is provided (advance notice required, please). A Kiddush brunch follows services with bagels and warm conversation. Please refer to the calendar for service dates and location as we are operating with part-time clergy and shuls in both Saginaw and Bay City.
High Holy Days
-- Temple Beth Israel offers both adult and children's services. Membership includes High Holy Day seating. Baby-sitting is available during the services.
Religious and Hebrew Education Programs
- Temple Beth Israel's kindergarten through post-B'nai Mitzvah program emphasizes Jewish learning in a fun and stimulating educational environment.
Dedicated members volunteer year after year to teach our youth on Sundays and in our mid-week Hebrew program. Midweek Hebrew is offered both at both Temple Beth Israel locations and at offsite locations to accommodate Saginaw, Bay City and Midland members.
Adult Education
- Temple Beth Israel offers a series of Adult Education classes on Sunday mornings in the Bay City Temple library, such as: Beginning Adult Hebrew; Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah instruction; Torah/Haftarah Reading; Synagogue Survival 101. Special lectures and events bring outside speakers to the community.
Life Cycle Events
-
We will assist members with all life cycle events, such as baby namings, bar/bat mitzvah, weddings, funerals, and unveilings. Each event is personalized to meet the needs of each family. Temple facilities are also available for use during these important events.
Why Join a Temple?
- Join a Temple as a mitzvah. Synagogues provide an opportunity to ensure Jewish survival. Perpetuating Jewish traditions and helping to guarantee a Jewish future is a mitzvah.
